ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network)

ISDN provides "dialup" access to a truly digital connection that requires a separate phone line to be installed. An ISDN line is a dual channel connection, which means that you are able to transmit and receive data simultaneously. This is different from modem connections that must switch directions during the connection causing delays.

For your network to effectively use an ISDN line, it is necessary to purchase an ISDN router or install an ISDN terminal adapter in a server capable of routing (such as NT or Unix).
