All of our residential access accounts come with 5 Megabytes of storage space for you to create a personal web page, which can be accessed using any FTP client software. To view your web page, the web address will be http://www.netexpress.net/~your username. Following are some instructions on how to make use of that space. The example images are taken from WS_FTP, but the same settings and methods will apply to all FTP client programs.
***Please note: your personal web space is hosted on a UNIX server and does not support ASP. ASP support is available with our Virtual Hosting packages.
Enter the following information to log in to your space:
Host/server name: www.netexpress.net
username/login name: your username
password: your password
Anything you want to be live on the web will need to go in the "html" folder
The main page of your website should be named index.php, index.html, or index.htm
***Please note: When our web servers display your website, ".php" files take precedence over ".html" and ".htm" files, and ".html" files take precedence over ".htm" files. Because of this, if the main page of your site is "index.html" and there is another file in the html directory called "index.php", your main page will not be displayed because the ".php" file will be displayed first. To avoid this problem, remove any php or html files from your web space before uploading your site for the first time. You may also want to double-check your website's files to make sure there are no files where the filename ahead of the file extension are the same (like "index.php" and "index.html").
